The Living Room.

Branding | Layout Design

The goal of this project was to design and execute a core identity program for a new restaurant in the Bryan/College Station Area. Through a forced-word-connection, I was to develop a restaurant that was different, fresh and something that spoke to my audience.

The Living Room. is the place to be in BCSTX. Not only does it have the best atmosphere, cocktails & brunch in town—it is gluten, soy & peanut free (but it’s so good you’d never guess). With a Tapas & Cocktail focus, The Living Room. is a place where you can come to relax and catch up with friends. People with allergies can’t just share food most of the time—but here they can. It’s home, but don’t get confused—this is not your mama’s living room.

Forced-word connection rationale

At the start of the project we were given a list of words and had to use those as a starting point for our brainstorming & concept ideas.

Here are mine & where they took me:

Buzz & Giggling.

These words made me think of the atmosphere—somewhere fun & where you can get a drink.

Ladder & Corn.

These words are what brought me to the outdoor patio game concept. “Ladder”= Chutes and Ladders; “corn” = cornhole.

Mushy.

When I read “mushy”, I instantly thought of soft. Which made me go to comfort, resulting in the booth-focused, living room feel.

casual elevated. industrial modern. fun. bold. confident. Needless to say—

it’s not your mama’s living room.
